Celebrate with Our Authors
God works in exciting ways at each year's conference. Oftentimes He does a
deep work within us - something that is even more significant than the sale
of a manuscript. Other times He also opens doors for the publication of our
manuscript. It may be a long time coming. We may face much discouragement in
the process. I know I did. The first book I wrote was returned by 42
publishers during a six-year period. Finally, I landed a contract as a
result of meeting with an editor at the St. David's Christian Writers
Conference. The rest, as they say, is history. I now have published seven
other books and have made over 1,000 sales to Christian periodicals.
The purpose of this page is to
encourage you through the testimony of former conferees who have persevered
and, as a result, have published. Although books will be showcased, we're
glad to share your news of sales to magazines. Since the conference is about
learning how to effectively write about "a God who is real, who is
reachable, and who changes lives," your publication news does not need to be
the direct result of a contact made at the conference. If the conference has
helped you get in print, please share your news and a word of encouragement
to others.

Bloody Point by
Linda J. White
Young FBI agent Cassie McKenna takes a leave from the Bureau to try to find
serenity on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. But serenity is the last thing she
finds. Breakneck twists follow the chilling realization that a series of
strange events are anything but coincidence; and if Cassie's hunch is
correct, there's more at stake than she ever dreamed.

Linda J.
White is a seasoned writer and public speaker. She is the assistant
editorial page editor at The Free Lance-Star, a daily newspaper in
Fredericksburg, Va. She has three grown children and lives in the country
with her husband, Larry, three cats and a Springer spaniel. Linda and her
husband have a 32-foot Endeavor sailboat on the lower Potomac River,
within easy reach of the Chesapeake Bay.
The Greater Philadelphia conference has been instrumental in focusing my
writing and in encouraging me to continue on when the going gets tough. At
Philly I am able to learn, fellowship, and network with other writers.

Forgivin’ Ain’t
Forgettin’ by Mata
Elliott
A
man…a woman…a secret between them…
A
heart-wrenching decision made long ago has left Cassidy Beckett crippled
with guilt. For years, her solution has been to bury her feelings behind her
faith. But when a handsome young widower enters Cassidy's life, her past
rises up demanding to be dealt with, and now only the kind of wisdom and
understanding that God provides can help her find healing and the courage to
fully open the door to her heart.

Elliott, a graduate of Temple University, holds a degree in elementary
education. She taught for ten years before becoming a caregiver and
full-time writer. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband and two cats.
Forgivin’ Ain’t Forgettin’ is her first novel, and it took her seven
years to complete it.

Mata
tells other writers, “Don’t be discouraged because it’s taking you longer to
finish your book than others. God’s timing for our lives is perfect. If we
do our part by faithfully seeking Him, writing as He directs, and connecting
with other writers, God will do His part, His way, which will always work
out for our good.” |

VISUAL ENCOUNTERS:
Meeting God through Creative Journaling by Priscilla
Williams
The first time I came
to the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference I was searching
for the content of my book. I knew the Lord was calling me to do one for
Him, I just did not know what He wanted me to do. I was quite encouraged
in the search. The second time I came to the conference I was trying to
discern how to publish the book. I took the workshops and met the right
people that enabled me to hear the Lord tell me to self-publish the book.
I met the Taylors, founders of Pneuma Books, LLC. They were my production
managers. I now have my first book in hand. . . . VISUAL ENCOUNTERS: Meeting
God through Creative Journaling. There are not words to fully express my
gratitude for the conference blessings. Every workshop I do in connection
with my book, I am indebted. Added to all that blessing, this year I can
sell my book at the conference. Praise be to God.

Hope for the Journey through Cancer
by Yvonne Ortega
Every year more than 1,000,000 people in the U.S. alone are diagnosed with
cancer. Cancer patients go through the spiritual journey of a life-time, but
they also ride an emotional roller coaster. Hope for the Journey through
Cancer addresses both. The book covers diagnosis, surgery, treatment,
and recovery. Each devotion starts with a Bible passage called a Hope
Builder. Through sixty inspirational readings, the author walks alongside
the reader with encouragement and compassion gleaned from God’s Word. The
author addresses the triumphs and setbacks of a life-threatening disease
with honesty and faith in God, our strength and our shield. Hope for the
Journey through Cancer is published by Revell and came out May 1, 2007.

Whether you attend the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference or
the Colorado Christian Writers Conference, you will experience a time of
praise and worship, of prayer and renewal, of networking, and improving your
writing. A spirit of love and unity permeates the air. I consider the
conference a foretaste of heaven. The appointment times are crucial. The
days of sending an unsolicited book proposal to an editor have passed. Bring
your book proposals and article ideas. Take advantage of the appointments. I
had one fifteen minute appointment with Bill Petersen at the Colorado
Christian Writers Conference in 2005 and landed a book contract. Come rested
and ready to make friends who share your passion for writing. Look for me.
I’d love to meet you.
